WHY GO TO CHURCH?
With all the excitement and stress of living in a new country, it can be easy to ignore deeper needs while you figure out your day to day needs. However, there are lots of reasons to find a good church during your time in Amsterdam.
So why got to church?
- Living in a new place can sometimes be lonely, and church is a good place to meet new people with different backgrounds and ideas.
- Many churches will provide a deeper level of information and teaching than you will find at ISMA or your university.
- Church is a great place to learn more about yourself and about God.
As Christians, we believe that meeting with other Christians to worship God and learn from the Bible is how we grow and mature. Even if you are not a Christian, you can give church a try! You might be surprised at what you find.
There are as many different kinds of churches as there are different kinds of people. Look around, and don’t be afraid to ask us for to help you find a place. Don’t be put off by one service; try another week, or a different time of the day. And if you went to a church in your home country, remember: you are in a new country. Just as life here can be different in a lot of ways, the churches here might be different too. Don’t expect to find a church exactly the same as the one you had back home.
Try something new… That is what being an international student is all about!
